Laura Hines was born and raised in the heart of the midwest in Lebanon, OH. She began drawing at an early age, following the footsteps of her grandmother, artist and dollmaker Ruth Bonnewitz Hines.

She attended Earlham College in Richmond, IN, earning a BA in French and Francophone Studies in 2007. After spending a year living and studying in Grenoble, France, she moved to Seattle, WA to attend the Seattle Film Institute.

In 2010 she earned a certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington in Seattle and was accepted as a Bartels Science Illustration Intern at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY. In the summer of 2011, she attended the School of Visual Art's Summer Residency Program in Illustration & Visual Storytelling in New York, NY.

Since August she has been living in San Francisco, CA, working as an intern at Juxtapoz Magazine for its Illustration and Erotica blogs, as well as a personal assistant to illustrator and Juxtapoz feature writer and editor, Hannah Stouffer.
